African American Veterans Remembered
Hackensack, NJ
As the America recognized the service of Veterans of War and
military servants in November, the Veterans of Faith Ministry of Varick Memoral
A.M.E. Zion Church honored their own during their annual memorial service on
Sunday, Nov. 10th. Telling their story as only they could, the Rev.
Jonathan Whitfield senior pastor of Trinity Baptist Church (Hackensack) gave an
exhilarating message backed by Trinity’s choir. A graceful march in at the beginning of the service, a salute and a rousing roll call of every member – past
& present/male & female – in attendance brought chills to the skin. Varick’s Veterans are proud of their servitude and have continually recognized African American Veterans - alive or passed on- who served (s) in all branches of the US Military.
